Field Day Celebration in Gozoli Village: Showcasing the Impact of Demo Plots

As part of the IFSLS Project, implemented in partnership with ZOA International and funded by the European Union, a vibrant Field Day celebration was held in Basunda Locality, Gozoli Village. The event brought together farmers, community members, and local authorities to witness firsthand the results of the agricultural practices introduced through the project.

The Value of Demo Plots

Demo plots are crucial to improving agricultural productivity and resilience. They serve as living classrooms, where farmers can practically apply the knowledge gained through Farmer Field Schools (FFS). Through these plots, farmers observe crop performance, compare traditional and improved techniques, and gain confidence in adopting new practices.

The demo plots in Gozoli Village showcased modern agricultural methods such as improved seed varieties, proper spacing, soil conservation practices, and integrated pest management. They also introduced new crop varieties like :  Beans  to the community—expanding local knowledge and helping farmers diversify production. This hands-on learning environment empowers farmers to make informed decisions and encourages sustainable farming that supports long-term food security.

Event Attendance

The Field Day was attended by a wide range of stakeholders. Farmers from across the village and surrounding areas participated actively, eager to see the demonstration outcomes. Representatives from the local government and agricultural extension offices were present, showing their support for the initiative. The event also welcomed community leaders,  and women farmers who play a vital role in local agricultural development.

Project staff from ZOA International were on-site.

The Field Day celebration in Gozoli Village was more than just an event—it was a clear demonstration of the progress, enthusiasm, and potential within the farming community. By combining the practical strength of demo plots with the participatory learning model of Farmer Field Schools, the IFSLS project is helping farmers adopt improved techniques that enhance productivity and resilience.

With continued collaboration among communities, implementing partners, and donors, we look forward to scaling up these successes and creating lasting impact in Basunda Locality and beyond.
