BRDO’s primary mission is to build the resilience of poor and vulnerable communities, enabling them to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to improve their livelihoods. Its work is heavily focused on addressing two of the most pressing issues facing Sudan today: poverty and climate change. BRDO’s approach is rooted in the belief that the most effective way to create lasting change is by empowering communities to take control of their own development. This is achieved by working closely with local communities to design and implement programs that respond to their specific needs, ensuring that solutions are both sustainable and culturally appropriate.
The establishment of BRDO was the result of a shared vision among a group of experienced professionals who had previously worked with the United Nations (UN) and various International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs). These founders brought with them decades of experience in humanitarian aid and development, as well as deep connections to local communities, government ministries, and authorities in Sudan. Their extensive knowledge of the socio-political landscape, combined with their reputation for integrity and effectiveness, enabled BRDO to quickly gain trust and credibility with local stakeholders.
One of BRDO’s key strengths is its strong ties to the communities it serves. The organization’s staff are not only well-versed in the technical aspects of development work, but they also have an intimate understanding of the cultural and social dynamics of the regions where they operate. This enables BRDO to implement programs that are not only effective but also highly relevant to the communities they serve.

MAINTAINING RELATIONSHIPS

BRDO maintains close relationships with local authorities and government ministries, which has allowed it to build strong partnerships and ensure that its programs are aligned with national development priorities.
Since its inception, BRDO has launched numerous programs designed to improve livelihoods, enhance food security, and strengthen community resilience in the face of climate change.
These programs include initiatives in agriculture, water and sanitation, vocational training, and capacity building for local governance. By addressing the root causes of poverty and vulnerability, BRDO aims to create lasting improvements in the quality of life for the communities it serves.
BRDO’s work has been particularly impactful in Eastern Sudan, where it has implemented a range of projects aimed at improving food security, increasing access to clean water, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. In these regions, climate change has had a devastating impact on rural livelihoods, leading to increased food insecurity and poverty.
BRDO has responded by introducing innovative, climate-smart agricultural techniques that help farmers adapt to changing weather patterns, improve crop yields, and reduce their reliance on unsustainable farming practices.

LOOKING TO THE FUTURE

BRDO remains committed to expanding its work and continuing to build the resilience of Sudan’s most vulnerable communities. As the country faces ongoing challenges related to poverty, climate change, and conflict, BRDO will continue to innovate and adapt its programs to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves.
By staying true to its core values of community empowerment, sustainability, and resilience, BRDO aims to play a key role in shaping a more prosperous and sustainable future for all Community in our area were we work .
