Location: Rural Kassala, Sudan  

Kassala State faces significant challenges with poverty, food insecurity, and water scarcity, impacting livelihoods and agricultural productivity. This program aimed to address these issues by combining water resource management and agricultural improvements.  

Activities  

Terrace Construction

Built terraces to conserve water and prevent soil erosion in agricultural lands.  

Hafir Rehabilitation

Restored traditional water storage structures, enabling year-round water availability for farming and livestock.  

Farmer Training 

Provided workshops and training on sustainable water use and modern agricultural techniques to boost sorghum yields.  

Beneficiaries 

Over 1,000 households in rural Kassala directly benefited from improved water access and enhanced farming techniques.  

Impact  

Increased sorghum production, leading to improved food availability for families.  

Strengthened community resilience to climate shocks by ensuring water security.
